Sartorialist.

Traveller loves this post from the Sartorialist.

The segway and the fashionable Milanese gentleman seem so comically incongruous.

Happy weekend {and a cute little blog}

Traveller stumbled across this little blog recently and she adores it.

It's a little fairytale-esque and wildly idealistic...

but that's why T loves it!

Sometimes you just need a little optimism.

It's called 'To my wife' and it features notes from a guy to his future wife..

here are a couple of T's favourites..

DAD JEANS
You’ll never see me in dad jeans. You may see me in jeans whilst I’m being a dad but they have nothing to do with each other.

I WON’T
Buy you a scale for Valentine’s Day. One time my father did this, epic mistake.

Happy weekend!

Traveller won!

Today, Traveller was informed that she has won her first blogging giveaway competition!

Isn't there something fabulous about winning something? Big or small, it almost makes you feel like the universe is on your side.

It makes Traveller remember a story from her youth.

McDonald's were running a nationwide competition (in Australia) where all you had to do was scratch a scratch card (after purchasing an item) and you could win all sorts of lovely things from a free pack of chicken nuggets, to a strawberry milkshake, to bigger items like televisions and walkmans (remember walkmans?)

One fine evening when she was about 10, her family all visited a McDonald's as they were on a family trip to Bundaburg. For the life of her, T cannot remember why they went to Bundaburg. Famous only for their rum, it's not exactly a holiday destination.

T digresses.

Anyway, all five members of her family were eating and, lo and behold, T and her brother both won!

T won a milkshake...

....and her brother won a ghetto blaster!

Can you believe it?

If T had been ahead of him in the line, the blaster would have been hers!!
T remembers smiling and trying to look happy for her brother...but it was all an act.
She wanted that ghetto blaster.
But now, her luck has turned around, one of her daily reads, the lovely naturally nina had a giveaway this week, and Traveller won!

The glorious prize?

For anyone that knows Traveller, this is slightly ironic, as she has always been slightly disorganised in the home, much to the chagrin of her loved ones.
Perhaps if someone had thought of giving her cleaning supplies as a prize... she would have learnt to love them sooner!

Blog Lovin'

Traveller came across this blog recently and loves the witty little thank-you notes.

The writer uses the blog as a daily expression of gratitude and it is full of daily thank-you notes to loved ones, strangers and even the inanimate objects in her life.
Here are a few that amused Traveller.

What a great project, hey?

What would you be thankful for?

Abbey Road.

Traveller found this link though A Cup of Jo and my goodness, it is an extremely honest depiction of Abbey Road!

Living in Maida Vale, Abbey Road is a mere 10 minute walk from T and, as she often runs past there, she is continually amused by the hoards of tourists taking pictures of themselves crossing the road 'Beatles style'.

{it goes without saying that T has done this herself a few times with various visiting friends!}

The Bulge.

Traveller recently had a very truthful conversation (via skype) with her father.

It went something like this:

Dad: What is that your eating? Cereal?
Traveller: No, icecream. It's 10pm.
Dad: (pause) Oh, it's winter over there isn't it?
Traveller: Yes.
Dad: Mmm. You're looking a little fuller in the face.
Traveller: (gasp!)

As cruel as that may have seemed at the time, it's perfectly correct that 'the truth hurts'. Traveller simply can not help herself at this time of the year. And hey, a trip to France with bottomless wine, cheese and bread didn't really help!

The worst (or best) part is that school really pulls out all the stops this time of year. Most of you know that T eats a free lunch at school, and at this time of year, the options to increase your calorie intake are substantial!

Let's look at today's lunch for example:
Roast chicken with all the trimmings (and gravy! oooh gravy!), followed by a delectable apple crumble with warm custard. Let's face it - nothing warms you up like hot custard!

Oh dear.

T really needs to face the cold, hard truth.

Nothing warms you up like a muffin-top, saddle-bags and bat-wing arms - but that doesn't mean it's appealing.

It's time to say, 'No!' to all {upbeat euphemism for 'some'} things fatty!

Now, just before the afore-mentioned lock-down on fatty food kicks in, T would like to introduce you to the Churro.

A churro is a Spanish donut, usually served with hot chocolate sauce.

If you have never had the distinct pleasure of eating one of these scrumptious little morsels - get thee to a supermarket!

One of T's favourite food blogs, cannelle et vanille, just posted a delicious recipe for cooking the little darlings and T suggests you get cooking!
